Wall Mounted vs. Ceiling Mounted Garage Storage System
You know the feeling. You pull the car up to the garage, park, get out and try not to freeze to death or get soaking wet on your way to the front door. It would sure be nice to park inside the garage. In order to do that you would need an organizational system for your garage. But should you get a wall mounted or a ceiling mounted garage system?
Both systems give you an adequate amount of storage space. No more tripping over toys, Christmas ornaments, file boxes, sports equipment, or tools. Both storage systems get things off of the floor and leave plenty of room for you to park the car. They connect to all of the available space in order to maximize the storage ability of your garage. This is where the similarities end.
Wall mounted garage organizers can be attached to any of the three walls. They can also be “stacked” from the ceiling to the floor of each wall in order to maximize each and every space available. Since none of the wall space invades where the vehicles are parked, there is no conflict between utilizing space and parking your car. This gives you a minimum of three times the space of ceiling mounted organization systems. Ceiling mounted garage organizers only attach to the ceiling and in order to be useable they must attach to the perimeter and not the entire ceiling. This allows for a great deal of wasted space when using a ceiling mounted storage system.
Accessibility is important in order to stay organized. Wall mounted garage organization systems are within arm's reach for everyday items. Seasonal items can be stored on the shelf closest to the ceiling, allowing for bicycles and yard work tools to be on lower hooks in order to return them to their correct place when finished using them. Ceiling mounted garage systems, more often than not, require a ladder to access the items that are stored. This leads to a big problem in keeping things organized in the storage system. It has been proven that if it staying organized requires too many steps then most people won’t follow through. Using a ladder to retrieve and put back sports equipment or toys is that extra step. Thus recreating the chaos that existed before the organization system was put into place.
Another advantage that wall mounted garage organization systems have is the ability to use hooking devices in order to hang bicycles and large sporting equipment. Bicycles and children’s riding toys can be hung up on metal hooks so that they are out of the way, but are low enough for easy access. With the hook system there is no danger of riding toys rolling off and landing on someone’s head or possibly getting broken. Ceiling mounted systems cannot offer the ease of a low-hanging hook system.
Any garage organizational system is a step in the right direction to getting your car in the garage. After weighing the pros and cons of a wall mounted versus ceiling mounted garage product, take action and order the right system for you today. One more day without an organized garage is one more day tromping through the rain or snow from your car to the front door after a long day at work.
